PokerRoom.com has plans to reopen

Everyone is talking about the rumor that PokerRoom.com has plans to reopen. Are the rumors true? It’s hard to tell. PokerFuse was the first to report on the alleged tweet from an SEO manager from bwin.com that simply stated that PokerRoom.com would be back in business. While social media sites are considered “real sources” in today’s social media crazed world, the tweet has been taken back since it was challenged and there haven’t been any more reports or speculations since then.

A writer at PokerNewsBoy who also happens to have connections at bwin wrote an article recently that stated that there has been talk about whether or not to reopen PokerRoom, but no specific decision has been reached either way. The writer, James Guill, is a reputable writer that typically only writes the truth, so his article is probably the closest to the truth that we can get right now.

The latest happenings at PokerRoom include an update to the website that simply states the poker site is under construction, whereas in the past it pointed visitors to its parent site to enjoy their online playing. They have also recently started a Facebook and Twitter page, which also causes speculation that something is in the works.

What doesn’t make sense is why PokerRoom is doing this now. Since being forced out of the US, PokerRoom met its demise. Legalization of online poker in the US isn’t speculated to be done until at least 2014. So now people are wondering if online poker sites are onto something. Is legalization going to take place sooner? No one knows and those that do know aren’t talking.
Those that are new to online poker probably don’t even know who PokerRoom is and why they are so incredibly popular.

Pulling out of the US in 2006, PokerRoom was one of the first online poker sites to make a name for itself. Originally launching in 1999 as a free money site, it quickly became of one the most popular online poker sites for real money until it was forced to close. They operated similar to today’s social media sites, giving players one place to meet and play their own home poker game. They were one of the most reputable sites that just about everyone trusted to play poker online.

Since PokerRoom is part of the OnGame Network, they won’t be playing in the US anytime soon. The only way the US will see PokerRoom again is if the US decides to legalize online poker playing.
